Who we are
Nikhilesh Siddanthi (“Lori”, “we”) is the data fiduciary for the details you give us on this page, under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
What we collect
- Your WhatsApp number or email address
- Optionally: your first name, city, due month, preferred language, and whether you want to hear about printed card sets
We do not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers on this site, and we do not record your IP address with your reservation.
Why we collect it
Only to contact you about your founding pass and the app’s launch, and to plan which languages and stages to build first. We will not sell it, share it with advertisers, or use it for any other purpose without asking you.
Payments
If you buy a pass on the web, the payment is handled by Razorpay, a licensed Indian payment provider; they receive the details needed to process it and send you a receipt. We store a one-way hash of your email or mobile number with the payment reference, amount, pass and time, so the pass can be restored. In the Android app, Google Play handles the payment; we receive only the order reference and pass bought, to confirm it with Google. For a Pregnancy Pass we keep the date it ends, worked out from the due date you entered, not the due date itself. Gift and clinic codes are stored only as one-way hashes. We never see your card or UPI details.
Where it is stored and for how long
On Amazon Web Services in Mumbai, India, encrypted. It is deleted automatically two years after you sign up, or sooner if you ask.
The app itself
The Lori app keeps your pregnancy details, mood check-ins, voice recordings, garden and notes on your phone. They are not sent to us. Backups you make are files you keep, locked with a passphrase only you know; we never receive them. On Android, if your phone’s own Google backup is switched on, it may include Lori’s data, encrypted to your Google account; we cannot see it. Daily reminders are scheduled on your phone, not by a server.
Anonymous monthly totals (optional)
Once every four weeks the app can show you a card with a few totals from the last four weeks: how many days had a ritual, how many rituals, how many family members joined, the app language, whether you are expecting or your baby is here, and whether you have a pass. The card shows every one of these. You read it, and only if you tap “Send”, they are sent as four weekly totals, each with its week number (such as 2026-W39), with no name, no due or birth date, no device ID and no recordings. We add them straight into weekly totals, so no record about your family is kept. Nothing is ever sent unless you tap Send.
Lori’s AI (optional)
Two features use Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic, running on Amazon Web Services (Amazon Bedrock): “Ask Lori’s AI”, for questions Lori’s reviewed answers don’t cover, and “A story written for your family”. They only run when you tap them. What you type (the question, or the baby’s name, family members and town for a story), your language and a coarse stage (pregnancy week or baby’s month) are sent once to write the answer or story. We do not store or log them, and they are not used to train AI models. A random number kept on your phone lets us limit how many answers or stories one phone can ask for each day; it is not linked to you. If you have a pass, stories are counted by your pass instead. These daily counts are deleted after three days. AI answers are labelled as not reviewed by a doctor.
Beta feedback
While Lori is in its closed beta, the app has a feedback form. Only what you type or tick is sent, and only when you tap Send, together with the app version, language, whether you are expecting or your baby is here (as a four-week band or month of age), whether you use the Android app or the web app, how many days you have used Lori and your total moments. Your name and a contact are optional. We use the answers only to improve Lori, keep them on Amazon Web Services in Mumbai, and delete them automatically after two years, or sooner if you ask.
During the closed beta only, the app also sends one count a day that it was opened on your phone: the app language, whether you are expecting or your baby is here, and whether you have finished setting up. It carries no name, no device or account id and nothing you typed or recorded, and it is added straight into one total per day, so we cannot tell phones apart. Our server does not keep your IP address. This stops when the beta ends.
