Common questions
Using Lori
What is Lori?
A small daily ritual for you and your baby, from pregnancy to the second birthday: talk, read and sing in your own voice, and record it for the nights you can’t be there. There is calm for you too, and help when you need it.
Which languages does Lori speak?
English, Hindi, Telugu and Tamil. You can switch any time in Settings. Native speakers are still checking our Hindi, Telugu and Tamil, so if a line sounds odd, please tell us.
Do I need an account, or the internet?
No account. After you open Lori once, it works with no internet. Ask Lori’s AI and sending us a note need a connection.
Is there an app to install?
Lori runs at app.lori.baby in your phone’s browser. Add it to your home screen and it opens like an app. We are preparing an Android app for the Play Store.
Can my family join in?
Yes. Papa has his own three things a day, and anyone can record a story, a lullaby or a hello on your phone. Each voice is kept with their name, on your phone.
Is this Garbh Sanskar?
It shares the heart of garbh samvad: talking, reading and singing to your baby. We keep what research supports and leave out religious framing and promises about your baby’s intelligence or traits.
Health and safety
Is Lori medical advice?
No. Lori is educational and supports the care your doctor gives you. If something feels wrong, such as bleeding or your baby moving less, call your doctor now, or 108 for an ambulance. Urgent help is one tap away on every main screen of the app.
Who checks what Lori says?
Every health idea points to published research, graded strong, moderate or emerging, with what the research does not show. Clinicians are reviewing it now, and each topic in the app shows whether its review is done. See how we grade evidence.
Are Ask Lori’s answers checked by a doctor?
Ask Lori first looks in its own list of answers, written from medical guidance. If your question isn’t there, you can ask Lori’s AI. Those answers are always labelled “not reviewed by a doctor”, and urgent signs always come first.
I’m feeling low. Where can I get help?
You are not alone, and it is not your fault. Tele-MANAS is free and confidential, day and night: call 14416. Please tell your doctor too. In Lori, “How you feel” in Me has a check-in and a calm path.
Our pregnancy has ended. Can Lori stop?
We are so sorry. In Settings, choose “If you have lost your baby”. Lori pauses the countdown, daily cards and reminders, and offers quiet support. You decide whether to keep or delete your memories.
Privacy and your data
Where do my recordings and notes go?
Nowhere. They stay on your phone. No ads, no tracking. Only what you choose to send leaves it, such as a note to us or a question to Lori’s AI. See the privacy notice.
What if I lose or change my phone?
Save a backup in Settings. It is a file locked with a passphrase only you know, and you can restore it on a new phone. We never receive it, so we can’t recover it for you.
How do I delete everything?
In Settings, scroll to the end and tap “Delete everything on this phone”. That removes all of Lori’s data from your phone, including your pass (bring it back with your receipt). To delete anything you sent us, such as the waitlist form or a note, write to privacy@lori.baby.
Paying
What does Lori cost?
Nothing while Lori is in its closed beta: every part is open. Safety information will always be free.
